Today I began to create the topiary skirt this was very daunting as I didn’t know where to begin, I knew I wanted to use wire to create a spiral shape. However, I started off by manipulating the wire at the waist of the mannequin but quickly realised that I wouldn’t be able to get it off my mannequin. This is when I looked around to see what I could incorporate. After hours of trial and error I spotted some clips which I didn’t know what they were used for, after speaking with my family they told my they were wire connectors. I immediately tried them with the wire and skirt and it worked well. They held

the top two rings in place while I manipulated the final rings, then I needed to do was add the supports as the skirt needed some stability. This was difficult to get the wire to stay in one place but I persevered and designed a clip. At this stage I wasn’t sure whether it would be strong enough to support the greenery and flowers. If I was to do this again on a full scale mannequin I feel that with more spirals it would have a bigger impact.
