As part of this module we were tasked with designing costumes for The Apprentice Witch. Today I have just finished designing for the final character. The Apprentice Witch is a book written by the very talented James Nicol, before I started designing I had the privilege of reading all three of his books. It gave me a solid starting point when I began the design process.

Arinwyn is an apprentice witch who is trying to earn her silver star and become a fully qualified witch. On her jouney she meets several friends and foes.

Below is a selection of my final designs, the first design is for Gimma she acheived her silver star first time round, unlike Arinwyn she was able to go and work as a qualified witch. The Glyphs on her navy coat show the spells she has acheived. It was vital that the uniform was navy blue as it is stated this in the book, it was also key that she had a little bag as that was also mentioned in the book a few times. I completed the costume with leg warmers to add a 60's twist to the final design.

The next design I was able to embrace the 60's era for Salle, she was totally unique and indivdual so I had alot of fun designing for her character.

Finally you can see a design for Arianwyn she is wearing the navy blue uniform with a bronze moon broach. This is then completed with leg warmers and a broom!
