In this morning's session with Victoria, we had our models ( my Mum and sister) in again so we could make a made-to-measure calico base garment. I started with pre-cut calico pieces which I then tacked using bright colours, this was a practice; as if we were in the industry showing a designer where we could make changes to a garment to be able to take it in or out .
I then followed Victoria's instructions and constructed the garment which fitted perfectly on my model. The secret of made to measure is to continuously try the garment on the model to make sure of a perfect fit.
In the afternoon session, we tried on hired costumes and discussed how we would alter the costume to fit our model. I enjoyed this session as it helped me to become more confident and trust myself when altering hired costumes. This will be something that I will take with me into my future career.
This photo was taken before I altered the costume. Although this was a pretty good fit already I altered the sleeves and collar to make it a perfect fit.
This photo was taken after I had completed the alterations, although I didn't sew the alteration in, I discussed how I would do this with my lectures.
