For this session, I worked from home as it would be too difficult to transport the skirt on the train, Today the skirt was born, My first hoop was the waistband, the following hoops were scaled up to create the 'bell shape' of the skirt. This is a process that I learnt when creating my willow fruit bowl at Center Parks whilst on holiday. The uprights of the skirt was very difficult as the rods had a tendency to slip down and after a few days also shrunk!!
This then prompted me to secure it in some way, after some research I found the most efficient way would be to use a Dremel multi-tool and create small holes in the top of the rods and thread through jewellery wire. This supported the structure of the skirt and it is now ready to fill the sections with recycled materials and fabrics. I made the tabs so that it would allow more movement and the top section could fit inside the bottom section so that it could be transported more easily.
