Today was our first tutorial for our Negotiated Major Project, we were asked to come prepared with three possible concepts for our Negotiated Major Project. I created three mood boards displaying possible ideas for my last project.

I wanted each concept to link to something I had previously done at university. When I looked back at my previous projects I picked out my favourite modules, which I could possibly explore further. As there is never enough time to explore in great depth or expand on a concept that is linked to my modules.

First Concept:

I have taken part in many walks so I wanted to create this in the studio as I love the outdoors, nature, and woodlands, I have previously completed projects for the themes 'Parks and Gardens'. I have created a skirt from willow and recycled materials and wanted to keep sustainability in mind for my make. Alice in Wonderland was another theme where I focused heavily on butterflies and leaves. For the topic of 'Woodlands', I will hopefully investigate the natural world further by going out and taking photos of my own. Which will Include some research looking at different textile artists such as Mr. Finch, and exploring all aspects of the woodlands.

I will hopefully focus on the narrative 'The Faraway Tree' written by Enid Blyton and select a scene and a few characters to explore further. This is a book I vividly remember as a child and one I have recently read to my sisters.

Second Concept:

My second concept is to look into the future and focus my research on Space and Science Fiction. This would be a development from my ‘Return to the Forbidden Planet’ module. If I was to choose this as my project I would look at children’s television programs and see how they have incorporated sci-fi and developed this further.

For this concept, I am yet to decide on a narrative as it will heavily depend on where my research takes me.

Third concept:

My third concept is to continue my research from my Research Methods Module and create a Ballroom dance dress. My ambition has always been to make a Ballroom Dress it would also help me to further my skills for my future career. I would be taking inspiration from Vicky Gill and various other artists in the industry.

My narrative will be decided as I complete further research and make my journey through my investigations.
